Why Algae?

Because WE LOVE ALGAE!!!!

Algae create organic food molecules from carbon dioxide and water by capturing sunlight's energy through photosynthesis. Like terrestrial plants, algae are foundational to the food chain. Since plants are almost nonexistent in the oceans, nearly all marine life—including whales, seals, fish, turtles, shrimp, lobsters, clams, octopuses, sea stars, and worms—relies on algae for survival. Besides producing organic molecules, algae also release oxygen as a by-product of photosynthesis. It's estimated that algae contribute 30 to 50 percent of the global oxygen supply available for respiration by humans and other land animals.
